ADVANTAGES OF TABLETS FROM OTHER DEVICES
Currently there are plenty of device categories in the world market, and national, such as traditional desktop PCs, laptops or notebooks, and netbooks as well as smartphones, media players, ultrabooks, smartabs, and tablets. The latter class of devices has caused a stir since it was announced the first Apple iPad, to the most recent 2012 CES that were presented several tablets, they are on the rise.
Why we prefer tablets over other devices? It may well be by a simple fad or hype, or something better, and really provide a good alternative for the user, who has a real advantage over devices like those already mentioned; and, what are these benefits? There can be many advantages, but the most significant are:
The tablets offer greater mobility devices like traditional laptops, for thinner they are, the closest to the mobility of a tablet are the Ultrabooks, ultrathin notebooks and ultra light computers, but I insist, against all other laptops, tablets win. This is really noticeable when we take the hardware all day, every day, and there are tablets of different sizes, so for example, a 7-inch tablet provides greater mobility than a ultrabook.
Perhaps the processing power of a tablet not approach even a little bit like a laptop or a ultrabook, so some tasks are limited, but if we compare the tablets to smartphones, tablets provide us with the same functionality but on a much larger screen, which is more versatile, and easier and enjoyable multitasking. If to this we add comfortable and functional accessories such as Bluetooth keyboards or removable keyboards (such as the Asus Transformer or the Lenovo IdeaTab S210), it is even better.
A notebook, netbook, or ultrabook, should not be placed on any surface, it may overheat and prevent ventilation. On the contrary the tablets can bring up the legs and pose no major problem and can make as complex as a smartphone tasks, but again, on a larger screen is more comfortable to look at, and touch if you have fingers and large hands.
It seems that the question of a high battery life, low weight and low volume is a situation that is hardly taken into account in laptops, they are a clear example of new ultrabooks. In smartphones, the battery life is also a big problem, because in cases of continuous work, do not exceed 6 hours of life. The tablets are very different (with exceptions), because in cases of continuous work, can last 12 hours or more, before thinking of joining them.
There are different sizes of tablets, ranging from 7 inches to 10 inches. All or at least the vast majority occupy an intermediate size between smartphones / smartabs, and laptops. This not only allows for greater overall comfort but allow such simple tasks as a smartphone (or some complicated like a laptop), either listen to music, or capture photos and videos in high resolution.
Also read books, play video games (in fact there are already tablets designed for it as Wikipad or Razer Project Fiona), surf the Internet, read RSS feeds, download content, write blog posts, even making calls (either by telephone or via the Internet ), some basic office software (text, spreadsheets, presentations, often taking advantage of the cloud), editing multimedia … the possibilities are many, and the quantity and quality of apps that exist, as some that allow Operating Systems desktop and Windows 7 from the cloud, or connect remotely, the possibilities are endless.
Of course, much remains to tablets have the processing power and multi-tasking traditional computers, but there are several cases where it is the best device we can use. As I mentioned them in my case my iPad has been the best hardware that I use every day at school, for office automation, Internet browsing, and some entertainment. The size and weight are no problem, I can bring it back and forth. Sometimes I also use it to write some of the posts of PoderPDA, and it culminated work on my laptop, just adding some details and correcting necessary.
